Googles New AI Features: What You Need to Know

You can be forgiven for wondering what Google AI features will be announced next.

I have been in the SEO industry since 2008, I have seen it all, yet even I roll my eyes and think what on earth is coming next.

AI is no longer for the science fiction bots, it is here, it has been for years. The difference is, you can no longer escape it.

I have said it before, and I will say it again: Google is a third-party business, they will keep evolving to ensure they are the search engine of choice. If we as business owners want to rely on Google for our own business such as leads, we have to suck it up and keep ahead.

Talking of keeping ahead, learning what their terms mean is a job in itself.

Let me help you out with some terminology.

Google’s New AI Search Tools Explained Simply

AI Overviews – Quick AI Answers at the Top of Search

Google is now showing short, smart summaries at the top of search results. These AI answers save people time by giving key information right away, meaning no need to click through lots of websites. This is being rolled out to more countries, including the UK.

AI Mode – A Smarter Way to Ask Questions

A new tool breaks tricky questions into smaller, easier parts. It gives clear, helpful answers and also points you to useful websites. It’s starting in the US, but should be available in more places soon.

Deep Search – Deep-Dive Searches Made Easy

This feature digs much deeper into topics than a normal search. It gathers full, detailed information along with trusted sources. It’s perfect for when someone wants a complete picture or to really understand something complicated.

Live Visual Search – Search Using Your Camera

You can now point your phone’s camera at something, such as a product or sign, and Google will give you info about it right away. It’s a fast and visual way to get answers while you’re on the go.

AI-Powered Shopping Tools – Smarter Shopping with AI

Google is also making shopping online easier. Tools like virtual try-ons and tailored product suggestions help shoppers find what they need and feel confident in what they’re buying, all from the search results page without having to leave.

Making it Personal

Marketing should be tailored to us as individuals, and it has been for some time, it’s just about to get better.

I can see the future where even TV adverts will be tailored to whoever is watching. I have been around a long time and remember personalised electronic billboards and waiting room adverts being invented.

We’re in a massively fast-evolving digital world, there is so much noise, that noise is being tuned in to what you want to see and hear rather than irrelevant ads and search results.

Great for end users, but what about small businesses?

Google AI Features For Small Business Owners

For your business, you need to make sure your marketing team/person is aware of the changes and has the skills to implement them (hint, hint).

How Small Business Owners Can Keep Up with Google’s AI Features and Changes

Make Your Website Clear and Trustworthy

Google’s new AI tools often give people quick answers right at the top of the search results. That means fewer people might visit websites unless they offer clear, useful information.

To stay visible, make sure your website is easy to read, well organised, and shows that you know your stuff. Helpful content can still be featured in these AI answers if it’s well-written and accurate.

Focus on Local Visibility

If you run a local business, it’s more important than ever to keep your online details up to date. Use your Google Business Profile to make sure your address, opening hours, photos, and services are accurate. This helps people nearby find you quickly, especially now that Google is using more visual and location-based search results.

Improve How You Sell Products Online

If you sell things online, make sure your products are shown in the best possible way. Use good-quality photos, write clear and helpful product descriptions, and keep your listings accurate.

Google’s AI is now offering shopping suggestions directly in search, so better listings give you a better chance of being seen.

Keep Learning and Adapting

Google’s tools are changing fast, and more updates are coming. Set aside a bit of time regularly to learn what’s new. Staying informed means you can adjust your online marketing when needed, so your business keeps showing up in search results.
