Pinterest Tips

If you’re using Pinterest for the first time, you might not be familiar with all of the features and their importance. Knowing which tools to use and at what time can help make or break your Pinterest image. Here are some tips to follow to make sure your Pinterest page will do exactly what you want it to.

DO
Complete the Basics
Once your profile is set up, you need to make sure you complete each box you are prompted with. You should also add your company logo as your profile picture to make it easy for your followers to know who you are. You can also add a cover photo, so choose something vivid which will catch people’s eye and invite them to engage with you.

Use Pinterest Analytics
By taking advantage of this feature, you can get a better idea of how well Pinterest is working for you. Use it to track traffic back to your website, find followers who frequently engage and measure your growth.

Be Organised
Instead of pinning all of your content to one board, you should make sure to use several boards based on a common theme. This shows you are organised and will allow followers to look at what interests them easily.

Pin Regularly
This is a big one. To gain more followers, you must show them that you are active and consistently adding new content. You should pin new content several times a day to help increase your page’s reach.

Use Rich Pins
If you’re trying to sell a product, use Rich Pins to add current product information to your image. By doing this, you are allowing potential customers to have all the information they need to make a purchase from you.

DON’T
Add Low-Quality Images
Pinterest is a visual platform, meaning that image quality is extremely important. If you pin poor-quality images, it creates an impression of unprofessionalism – a reputation that you definitely don’t want to get.

Leave Boards Empty
Similar to the above, creating empty boards will leave you looking disorganised and not worthy of an invaluable follow.

Forget to Add Keywords
Pinning great content is a start, but it’s no good if it won’t be seen. You must add keywords to each pin to ensure that it appears in searches. Choose words or phrases that relate to your pin in some way to encourage engagement.

Ignore Interactions
Once you start getting likes and comments, it’s extremely important to respond. You could simply thank them for their like or reply with a call to action. If you sell clothes, it could be something like, ‘It’s great you like this dress – we have it in a range of colours here’, and include a link to your site.

Just Use Your Own Content
Followers can easily get bored if you just share similar content. By researching your target audience, you can find similar subjects that they are interested in which also relate to your business. You could add tips and advice or share inspirational quotes to create more interest.
By knowing exactly what you should and shouldn’t do, you can make sure that your Pinterest business page will become a successful marketing tool.
